Introduction
It has been the divine desire to bring men back to Him from the corruption and pollution of the devil. He started it through one man, Abraham, to bring the entire world back to Him. Since every man was polluted, the Lord just picked a man and cleansed him to bring forth a seed and through Whom He would reach the whole world. What the Lord actually desire from the earth is the fruit of the earth, the harvest of souls redeemed from the corruption of the devil to the salvation and purity of God. The Lord needs the fruit of righteousness, faithfulness, justice, mercy and other attributes from the people of the world; if they will listen and obey His voice for Him to bring them to perfection.
Then that one man turned to the nation of Israel, the beloved and covenant people of God. But they were not fully cooperated with Him to do His perfect work in them through their constant disobedience. They instead corrupted themselves the more until the wrath of God came upon them. Yet, the Lord didn’t cease from His work of reconciliation and regeneration on men in order to have souls harvest from His field He has planted long ago. May the Lord use this vessel of clay to reveal His mind to us through the help of the Holy Spirit.
One
THE FAILURE OF THE CHOSEN ONE
Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes. And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard. What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? Wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes? And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down: And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry (Isaiah 5:1-7)
This is the chosen seed of Israel represented as the vineyard of the Lord. The LORD decorated them with all the resources of heaven and the blessing of the earth, the God of the heaven and the earth watched over them, so that no wild beast could devour them. The LORD in the midst of them made them stronger than their enemy roundabout. All their enemies feared and trembled before them. They ate the milk and honey of the land and received the best of the Lord. The LORD Himself made a wall of fire roundabout them and whatever that could offend them, He took it away. Now the vineyard that He had expended His resources on to yield fruit for Him, was found wanting. Instead of pure worship to God, righteousness, holiness, justice and judgment, mercy and love, the reverse was the case, the Land was full of violence ,oppression, injustice, rebellion and everyone love gift and their judges followed after reward. The LORD was expecting good fruit but they brought forth bad and wild fruit until the LORD destroyed what He had built for them and cut down the tree and drove them out of their land to serve their enemies they desired their ways of life. It is normal to expect a harvest from the land we cultivated and sowed good seed on after some months or years.
For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned (Hebrews 6:7-8)
This was what eventually happened to the children of Israel several times in their land and the elongated one was the one they just return to their Land recently which took them about two thousand years in captivity.
We can equally glean from their experience, I mean, the church can learn great lesson from the life of the failed chosen one. Church today is the vineyard of God, our Lord Jesus spend all His Divine life on it. He laid down His life for our sin and iniquity. He gave us His Holy Spirit and angels to minister to the unworthy one, but can you see today how the churches have turned the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ unto lasciviousness, and even denying the only God, and our Lord Jesus Christ for mammonism, worldliness, occultism, stealing, adultery and manipulation of His Word to suit their desire. Instead of the church to prepare people for heaven, they are gathering them for hell fire. Many preachers have denied the Lord by setting aside His core teaching and transforming message that can save souls and cleanse them and make them fit for heaven. The church has hewed them out cistern, a broken cistern of many programs, method and philosophy that can hold no water. How many churches or denominations have been derailed and how many of them that their lifestyle differs not from the lifestyle of the unbelievers in marriage, conduct, comportment and other aspect of life.
The Lord is expecting the fruit of holiness and righteousness, but behold, it is occultism, hypocrisy, cheating, twisting the Word, partiality, favouritism, worshipping of mammon, big physical project without substance and many evil things the church is perpetrating today. Some think that the Lord Jesus Christ came so that we will heap up wealth by dubious means, false prophesy and extortion, and fair speeches like soothsayers. But let us know that the judgment of God is coming upon the children of disobedience. When God looked upon the trees He had planted yielding bad and perverse fruit, there is nothing He can do order than to cut it down. Many churches have the reputation of being alive today but they are dead and their candlesticks have been removed from the presence of the Lord. Many are just making noise but their voice of worship and sacrifices are no longer acceptable to the Lord. The wife the husband has spent all that He has on, that should be expecting the coming of her Husband has married another person (the world) and conceived for him.
Two
The Wicked Husbandmen
And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country. And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard. And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty. And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled. And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some. Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sen
t him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others (Mark 12:1-9)
There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things (Ezekiel 22:25)
What can we say to this thing, that a man founded a company and furnished it with all that is needed to carry out effective operation and handed it over to the managers and travelled abroad. After some years, He sent various servants to the managers to collect the profit they have made over time. But when the managers saw the servants of the company owner, the beat and killed them and converted the company to their own. Do you think that this can happen successfully among men where there is law and order? But why then did the husbandmen choose to converts the vineyard of the Lord to their own; because of the things of the world and greediness in their heart. They started trading with the souls entrusted to them to wash in the pure Word of God and with the operation of the Holy Spirit.
The husbandmen, craftily like the devil,
